Over a year has passed since our last entry… Not due to a lack of news to report, but because with so much going on we had little time to stop and write about it! Here are some of the sessions KSL has hosted since our last post…
Producer John Hill was in Studio A working with Portugal. The Man on their newest release for Atlantic Records.
Ted Hutt mixed The Dropkick Murphys album Going Out of Style in Studio A for the band’s own Born & Bred Records. Ryan Mall engineered.
Rock God Alice Cooper was in Kingsize Studio A with legendary producer and long time collaborator Bob Ezrin recording live basics and vocals for his latest album.
Kingsize Soundlabs owner Dave Trumfio recorded drums for disco crooner Sam Sparro’s next album in Studio A with drummer Felix Bloxsum (Sia, Empire Of The Sun, Christina Aguilera).
Pierre de Reeder was in Kingsize Studio A with M.Ward and Zooey Deschanel working on tracks for A Very She & Him Christmas. Mike Post assisted.
Punk rock super group OFF! returned to Studio A for more slash and burn recording. Dimitri Coats produced and Andrew Lynch engineered the Southernlord Recordings release.
Dann Gallucci mixed tracks for both Cold War Kids and Tim Curran’s recent releases at Chateau Trumfio.
Trumfio also mixed projects for Rooney frontman Robert Schwartzman, Everybody Else, Fight From Above, Kim Talon, Monstr, Jessica Fleischer, Dear Darling and Snowmine at Chateau Trumfio. Celso Estrada assisting on all mix sessions.
Speaking of Rob Schnapf, he has been camped out over the last year in his personal laboratory MANT (aka KSL Studio B) producing and/or mixing several projects including Booker T. Jones’ ‘The Road from Memphis’ out now on Anti-.
Dave Trumfio produced and mixed Portland based Adventure Galley’s soon to be released debut album in Studio A, C and Chateau Trumfio. Celso Estrada engineered.
Twin Shadow spent two days in the C Room reworking the Bagarre song Circus Is Gone. Michael Brauer mixed the song, which they released with a new name: ‘Changes.’
Hands was in the Studio A recording tracks for their new album with Andrew Lynch engineering.
KSL was home to a reunion of sorts… Sub Pop recording artists Beachwood Sparks began recording their first record in nine years in Studio A. Thom Monahan produced and engineered the sessions.
AA Bondy’s ‘Believers’, out on Fat Possum, was one of the first albums to be recorded on the John Musgrave customized MCI console in MANT. Rob Schnapf produced the record and Chris Szczech assisted on the sessions.
More recently Rob and Chirs have been recording some great new material with the band Everest in MANT.
Engineer Dave Trumfio recorded drums for a Sneaky Soundsystem remix with Felix Bloxsum behind the kit. Brian Rosemeyer assisted.
Ted Hutt and Ryan Mall returned to Studio C to mix the new Lucero album, recorded and produced by Ted in Memphis, TN.
Garrison Starr recorded tracks for her forthcoming ‘Amateur’ in the A Room with producer Justin Glasco. Andrew Lynch engineered.
KROQ darlings Scarlet Grey recorded and mixed their single “Gone Away Girl” with producer Dave Trumfio in Studio A and Chateau Trumfio with Kingsize engineer Celso Estrada.
Kid Static recorded vocals with Doug Boehm in Kingsize rooms A, C, and MANT. Doug also worked on new material with The Hangmen in Studio A.
Engineer and producer Darrell Thorp worked in the A Room with the bands Kiev and Bowery Beasts.
Nico Stai spent three days in the A Room working on material for a new full length record.
Country rocker Grant Langston recorded eleven songs with engineer and producer Paul Kolderie in studio A. Brian Rosemeyer assisted.
Dave Trumfio produced and mixed Pittsburgh-based indie rockers Triggers second LP, which will be released on Anomaly Records with engineer Celso Estrada.
The band Western Scene recorded some new songs in Studio A with the help of producer Hugo Nicolson. Brian Rosemeyer assisted on the sessions.
Arise Roots recorded a few more tracks with producer Brian Dixon and engineer Richard Robinson. Brian Rosemeyer assisted.
Black Harvey worked with producer Chris Seefried and engineer Seth A. Horan in the A Room.
Producer Joe Bartone was in Studio A with Valerie Ponzio. They recorded drums for a few of her new songs with the help of engineer Paul Du Gre and assistant engineer Jordan Greene. Joe has also recorded with his band Dub Theif (formerly Thelonious Dub) in the A Room.
Jacob and Matthew recorded the bulk of their new EP ‘Trust’ in the A Room with the help of engineer and producer Brian Humphrey.
Modern Time Machines worked on two songs from their forthcoming debut with producer Steven Rhodes. Brian Rosemeyer and Jordan Greene assisted.
In the A Room punk rockers, Ladyheat, banged out their full-lenght ‘Used Future’ in one day. Danny Langa engineered and Brian Rosemeyer assisted.
Nick Diamonds latest solo release ‘I Am An Attic’ was mixed by Celso Estrada in Studio C.
Judson McKinney recorded his new record ‘Drink The Wine’ with producer Andrew Lynch in the A Room.
Inc. recorded drums and bass for two new songs with engineer and producer Adam Moseley. Brian Rosemeyer assisted on the sessions.
Rick Parker brought Denver-based Overcasters to Studio A, where they recorded their second LP with the L.A. based producer.
Engineer Patrick McCarthy returned to Kingsize Soundlabs to record his own band Zig Zags.
Producer and engineer Celso Estrada worked on two new tracks with the band Zeus in Studio A.
Kindie rockers Ellen & Matt recorded a new album with producer Dave Trumfio who also mixed the record. Celso Estrada and Brian Rosemeyer assisted.
Vera Mesmer recorded drums with engineer Jordan Greene in the A Room.
The Good Rebels worked on a new song with producer Scott Smith in the A Room.
Charlina Gozali recorded much of her forthcoming EP with engineer and producer Jorge Costa in the A Room. Brian Rosemeyer assisted.
Scott Flammer mixed a killer album by the metal band Kaustik in the C Room.
Particle Wave recorded their new LP with Richard Robinson in the A and C room.
