From all of us here in the Kingsize family, we bring you some highlights of a few of the amazing artists and producers who have worked with us over the past year!

jungle

Our 2016 started off right with UK soul collective Jungle working on new material in Studio A.

arcade

London-based producer duo The Arcade stopped by frequently over the past year, working in both Studio A and V7. They are best known for their work with Iggy Azalea and Taio Cruz.

lafemme

Producer/Engineer Sonny DiPerri mixed French psychedelic band La Femme‘s incredible new album Mystère in V7 and the Chateau early this year. The album was released in September to great critical reception.

makonnen

Rapper iLoveMakonnen spent a few days in V7 recording vocals last February.

cassmcombs

Rob Schnapf and Brian Rosemeyer produced and engineered Cass McCombs‘ newest record Mangy Love in their private Studio B, aka MANT. The album was named one of Pitchfork‘s 20 Best Rock Albums of 2016. The duo also worked this year with the likes of Joyce ManorMargot & the Nuclear So and So’sThe GardenKurt Vile, Tokyo Police Club, and many more.

Our very own Viktor Fiction, the alter-ego of Dave Trumfio, shot a music video directed by Ronna Reason within our new facility Remo Sound Studio that will be opening very soon! Viktor Fiction is currently gearing up for a North American in support of Moving Units. Nestled in the hills of Silverlake, legendary singer/songwriter Leslie Feist returned to the Chateau several times during the first half of 2016 to work on upcoming new material.

murder

TNT’s Murder in the First used our facilities for some filming in April. Studio A can be seen in the opening scenes of an episode titled “The Barbers of Seville”.

Lo Moon, together with producer Chris Walla, worked on overdubs for their upcoming LP in Studio A.

congleton

Producer/Engineer John Congleton worked on several cool projects with us this year. Alvvays and The Districts both recorded with him in Studio A and V7. John also worked with Kimbra at the Chateau.

idlewild

Scottish band Idlewild recorded in Studio A with Hotel Earth’s Theo Karon engineering.

In May, we opened our brand new studio in partnership with Pierre de Reeder‘s Little Record Company, a restoration of an authentic 70’s studio space called 64 Sound! It looks and sounds incredible.

alicesmith

R&B singer Alice Smith recorded at 64 Sound for a couple weeks with engineer Eva Reistad.

Kingsize founder Dave Trumfio and house engineer Celso Estrada engineered Moving Units‘ new cover LP Collision with Joy Division at 64 Sound and the Chateau.

The amazing Reggie Watts spent a couple evenings this year here at 64 Sound and V7 as well.

phantoms

LA-based producer/DJ duo Phantoms were in and out of our Studio V7 and some of our other rooms over the course of a few months this year writing and recording.

jaketroth

A singer, songwriter, and producer for Atlantic RecordsJake Troth teamed up with engineer Ryan Gilligan at 64 Sound to work on new material. Nick Bockrath from Cage the Elephant even stopped by to lay down some guitars!

americans

Arizona hardcore band American Standards did basic tracking for an upcoming release with producer and friend of Kingsize Andy Marshall.

Producer Billy Bush worked with young skate-rock band Residual Kid in Studio A.

mgmt

MGMT vibed out in our Studio A for a couple weeks in August with Chairlift‘s Patrick Wimberly producing some early concepts for a new LP.

dropkick

Kingsize regular Ted Hutt finished up production and mixing on the upcoming Dropkick Murphys record this year at the Chateau.

billychanger

Kingsize friends Billy Changer spent a week with fantastic composer and producer Michael Andrews at 64 Sound recording an upcoming record. Frontman and house engineer for Lolipop Records Robert Cifuentes also has been spending some time with his band and a few other artists in Studio A.

dengue

LA musical stalwarts Dengue Fever turned 64 Sound into their very own scoring stage, recording a live score to an early 20th-century silent film for an upcoming project.

fred

Comedian, musician and actor Fred Armisen performed on every instrument himself on a jingle he wrote for KFC that was recorded at 64 Sound and V7. It was mixed at the Chateau by Dave Trumfio and Rob Duffy.

mekons

Pioneering British post-punk collective The Mekons spent a week this fall during their west coast tour recording material for their new album at our Joshua Tree studio, Gatos Trail. Partner/Engineer Dan Joeright manned the controls while Dave Trumfio, Mekons bassist of late, shouted the marching orders. The sessions included nightly campfire recordings! Stay tuned!!

We have big plans in the works and lots to announce next year, so be sure to keep an eye out!
