December 2018 Kingsize Update!

We are so proud to announce the opening of Gold-Diggers, our newest studio facility in the heart of East Hollywood. The building, once home to Ed Wood’s production company, houses nine rooms catering to everything from large-format recording sessions, to writing and mixing, and to editing and podcast production. It also features a soundstage suitable for tracking bands and orchestras, as well as for A/V production and events.

Our flagship room Studio 1 is also equipped with the first 32 channel production model of API’s newest console, the API 2448, which can be seen featured in the video from Vintage King below. Full specs and photos for all studios are soon to come, but if you are interested in more information please drop us a line over at studioinfo@gold-diggers.com

We are also happy to feature some of the new projects that have come out of our other studios over the past few months.

The newest record from Wet, Still Run, features recording from Studio A and V7 and production from Andrew Sarlo.

DeVotchKa’s This Night Falls Forever also features mixing and production from Studio A.

Back in June, Studio A hosted alternative rock band AFI for drum and bass tracking for their latest EP, The Missing Man. It features five new songs and engineering from Sound City veteran Paul Fig.

Kingsize teamed up with Reverb.com and NIN drummer Ilan Rubin this year for a series of tutorial videos recorded and shot in Studio A. Here is one of Ilan where he breaks down his favorite John Bonham drum beat of all-time.

64Sound hosted multiple sessions this year for rapper and poet Noname, developing many tracks that would eventually become part of her critically acclaimed debut record, Room 25.

64 Sound is also featured in this gorgeous short film, shot on Super 8mm film by our friends over at Moog, with Robert Glasper introducing their newest flagship synth in the tracking room.

Kingsize regulars Walter Trout and Eric Corne were hard at work in Studio V7 during the latter half of this year finishing up Walter’s newest record Survivor Blues.

LA indie pop duo Girlpool has announced their next record, What Chaos Is Imaginary, for release in Februrary 2019 on ANTI-, which includes recording from Kingsize Studio A.

2018 has been quite a big year for Kingsize Soundlabs, and with the opening of Gold-Diggers, we hope to see things get even bigger. Let us know how we can help make your recording dreams come true in 2019!
